Friday the NBA announced the suspension of the Knicks’
shooting guard J.R. Smith for violating the league’s anti-drug program. Smith
will mix five games next season after a positive drug test.
Smith did not test positive for drugs to enhance his
performance but he tested positive for marijuana.
According to the league’s official drug policy, a player is
suspended five games after a third positive test for marijuana. A second offense
results in a $25,000 fine and the first positive test requires for the player
to enter a program.
